Vasilika Refugee Camp Cleanup (the last row of tents)

During my stay in Greece, volunteering for NGOs working on helping the refugees, I was given the task to clean up a camp that had been emptied, so that new tents could be built for the upcoming arrivals. This was the last row of tents we cleaned and dismantled. It took a team of just five volunteers (armed with knives, brooms and garbage bags) about 24 hours over six days to tear down about 65 tents. I will never forget this time spent with Philippa, Rose, Caroline, Ingrid, Ziad (the camp translator from Syria), and Maurizio (the camp manager). #tentbusters #adobelife #chooselove #refugeeswelcome
