Project Felix is Adobe’s all new application for Creative Cloud 2017 that allows you to composite and integrate 3D assets into 2D images without being a 3D expert and without steep learning curves or complex workflows. It delivers you with high quality photorealistic images without any prior knowledge of 3D. Besides, if you know basics of Photoshop. This one will be a breeze. It takes away the software from your creative process. You may make short compositions, scene visualizations and abstract designs.

When you or your clients want all realistic looking images, working in 3D in Felix, allows you to combine the right lighting, depth of field, texture and a plethora of features. Whether you’re on a Mac or a PC, Felix makes it easier to work with 3D models.

Felix comes bundled with a free library of basic 3D objects, materials and lights to start from and modify. But, you as designer, obviously will want more, and you’re not likely to create every asset you use, and so

Adobe has just added three new asset types to it’s Adobe Stock Marketplace: 3D Models, lights and 3D materials that will make it easy for creatives to find the assets they need.Once you drop an object into Felix, you can add and change it’s material. For instance, you can make it a glass, metal, plastic, wood or even liquid.

Felix already comes equipped with a wide variety of materials. Multiple models can be imported in the same scene to make composition and workflow more faster, easier and creative.Tools in Felix are very user friendly and similar to Photoshop and other Adobe applications. To throw some light, it has a similar tool like the Magic Wand in Photoshop to select certain parts of the 3D object that are similar, very quickly. It uses machine learning to determine logical edges based on the shape, curves, symmetry and patterns.

There’s also an amazing addition which many conventional 3D software don’t have. Real-Time rendering or the Render Preview via the V-Ray rendering engine allows you to preview your work before Rendering the Final Image.

You can preview adjusts as you go. And you’ll also have the flexibility along with render to export those files as layers in Photoshop for further retouching.

You can use your own 2D image as a background. Felix can Automatically provides visual grids analysing the horizontal line to fit objects into the background in the most natural way possible. Project Felix automatically detects the vanishing point or horizon in your image to save you the hassle of camera perspectives and alignment. Your object will scale and align realistically and proportionally with respect to the perspective of your image – in a single click. It can also create lights automatically from the background by creating a panorama using the background image which adjust shadows, highlight and reflections according to the background, thus making the object belonging more naturally to the background.

Felix makes it easy. Use selection and camera tools to change angles and perspective. Buttons, sliders, and setting options let you stylize details like the glossiness of the material and the intensity of the light. Felix makes automatic adjustments as you go.

Simpler than ever, the interface is completely optimised for designers, it will save the hassle and the cumbersome process of working with 3D. Play. Explore. Experiment

The Public beta of Project Felix will become available to Creative Cloud members later this year. So, as long as it is Beta, you can use it for Free, but only if you have a paid subscription for any of the Adobe Creative Cloud programme like Photoshop, Lightroom or etc. Felix will be available to download as a beta desktop app for Win 10 and OSX.
