A great portrait needs more then good light and a great model. Make-up is often the overlooked missing component that can instantly elevate the quality of your portraits and the close you get to your model, the more important it becomes.
In this video photographer Gavin Hoey teams up with Sophie Daley http://www.sophiedaly.com to create two looks. The first is what you might expect when a model does there own make-up or time is tight. For the second look a lot more time was available allowing for more detailed make-up and color matching of the face, neck and hands.
Between shoots Gavin also has some top tips for working with a make-up artist.
